July 2016: the green light arts Summer Drama Camp (ages 9 to 14 years) returns for two 1-week sessions; first in Waterloo and then in Kitchener.

The Structure

Our week-long camp is streamed into two groups according to the ages of registrants (Group A and Group B). Each day includes a warm-up, group activities, several breaks and dedicated rehearsal/creation time to build towards an original presentation. There are also specialty workshops offered by Guest Instructors from Monday to Wednesday. The six different specialty workshops are: Acting 101, Movement, Clown, Gibberish, Comedy, and Stage Combat. Programming other than specialty workshops is led by our exceptional Camp Leaders and supervised by one of green light arts' founding members.

green light arts Drama Camp is focused on process rather than finished product. We aim to help students integrate the various skills learned in the workshops and group activities into an original student-derived presentation. Beyond the camp, we hope that students will have a continued interest in theatre arts and be empowered to carry their tool box of theatre skills with them into other activities (sports, arts, school) they are involved in.

On the Friday, each group will perform their unique piece in the afternoon (4:00pm) for family and friends. A wrap-up party will follow, so please join us for snacks and refreshments!
